Job summary

Stripe seeks a Global Sanctions Lead to own and evolve the sanctions function across geographies. You will lead regional teams, drive the next phase of sanctions transformation, and partner with Engineering and Product to modernize how sanctions operations work at Stripe.

You will oversee strategic direction, tooling, automation, audit trails, and regulatory exams, translating evolving sanctions rules (OFAC, EU, HMT, UN) into program requirements while reporting health and performance to senior

Qualifications

• At least 10 years in sanctions compliance or financial crimes, with senior leadership and cross-regional management.
• Deep expertise in OFAC, EU, HMT, UN sanctions regimes and screening methodologies.
• Proven track record improving sanctions program operations.
• Experience evaluating or transitioning tooling including vendors and platforms.
• Ability to partner with Engineering and Product on tooling design and workflow automation.
• Effective communicator with regulators, leadership and engineering teams.
• Experience with sanctions tooling and AI-assisted screening.

Responsibilities

• Lead sanctions managers and analysts across regions, ensuring quality and throughput.
• Own the strategic direction of Stripe's global sanctions program and screening coverage.
• Drive transformation roadmap toward automation and smarter detection.
• Partner with Engineering and Product as a co-designer for tooling inputs and screening logic.
• Ensure audit trails, explainability, and examiner-readiness; guide regulatory exams.
• Serve as senior escalation point for complex casework.
• Maintain awareness of evolving sanctions regulations and translate changes into requirements.
• Report program health and performance to senior leadership.
