Sony Music Entertainment’s PDEGO team in London is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to shape architecture and drive technical excellence at global scale. You will mentor engineers, design scalable microservices, and partner with product and operations to translate complex business needs into robust solutions.

The role requires 10+ years’ experience, strong Python/JavaScript, and AWS expertise, with a passion for music and creators.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience
• Experience implementing distributed systems
• Strong Python and JavaScript skills
• Experience with TypeScript and React
• Experience with databases including Snowflake, MySQL, Neo4j, Kafka, OpenSearch
• Experience designing microservices and APIs (REST, HTTP, OAuth)
• Proficient in AWS cloud technologies
• Experience with testing (unit, integration) and agile teams
• Excellent communication and mentoring abilities

Responsibilities

• Lead technical design and implementation of scalable software across global platforms
• Drive architecture decisions across distributed systems and services
• Collaborate with Product, Operations and stakeholders to translate requirements into robust solutions
• Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews and establish engineering best practices
• Lead architecture reviews and modernization initiatives
• Design resilient services and integrations with internal and external platforms
• Champion reliability, observability and operational excellence
• Identify technical debt and drive improvement initiatives
