Job summary

ALS Recruiting Ltd partners with a leading global freight forwarder in Bradford to hire an experienced Ocean Imports Operator. You will manage high-volume deep-sea ocean import consignments and own the end-to-end process from origin booking to UK port arrival and final delivery.

The role offers operational autonomy, strong stability, and opportunities within a global network; salary up to £38,000 with benefits.

Qualifications

• Proven background in ocean import freight forwarding operations.
• Understanding of deep-sea ocean import documentation and UK import customs procedures.
• Experience with CargoWise One, MultiFreight or similar systems.
• Ability to meet tight port and shipping cut-off deadlines.
• Competitive salary up to £38,000 depending on experience.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of ocean import files across international trade lanes from origin booking to UK port arrival and final delivery.
• Prepare and process UK import customs entries, Bills of Lading and shipping documents in full compliance with UK import regulations.
• Coordinate with ocean carriers, shipping lines, overseas freight agents and domestic hauliers to secure competitive ocean freight rates and optimise import transit times.
• Act as the primary operational contact for key client accounts, delivering real-time milestone tracking updates and resolving route bottlenecks.
• Oversee ocean import job costing, audit supplier charges, and ensure accurate client billing to protect file margins.
