Based at Mandarin Oriental Corporate Office within the Commercial, Media Partnership Department in London, the Global Media Strategy & Planning Director will lead Mandarin Oriental's global media strategy, ensuring world-class execution across all paid media channels to elevate brand desirability, engagement, and commercial performance. This role oversees media planning, buying, and optimization, managing relationships with global media agencies, luxury publishers, and platform partners to maximize impact and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have expertise in luxury media planning, digital and traditional advertising, brand partnerships, and performance marketing, with a proven track record of driving integrated, data-driven campaigns across key global markets.
Responsibilities
- Global Media Strategy & Planning: Develop and execute a global media strategy that reinforces Mandarin Oriental's positioning as a leading luxury hospitality brand, supporting awareness, engagement, and revenue objectives.
- Oversee paid media initiatives across digital, social, print, TV, OOH, and emerging platforms, ensuring a seamless and high-impact brand presence.
- Manage relationships with the global media agency, ensuring best-in-class planning, execution, and optimization across campaigns and markets.
- Orchestrate an omnichannel media approach, integrating upper-funnel brand awareness with lower-funnel performance marketing to drive bookings.
- Collaborate with brand, performance, content, digital, and CRM teams to align media investments with storytelling, personalization, and business goals.
Publisher & Platform Partnerships
- Maintain relationships with key luxury media publishers (e.g., Condé Nast, Robb Report, Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Monocle, How To Spend It) to secure value-added opportunities, editorial amplification, and strategic partnerships beyond paid placements.
- Manage platform partnerships (Google, Meta, TikTok, WeChat, RED, LinkedIn, programmatic partners) to optimize media investments and access premium placements, data insights, and beta opportunities.
- Secure exclusive, first-to-market brand collaborations with media partners to foster innovation and differentiation in luxury hospitality media.
Campaign Execution & Optimization
- Oversee global paid media campaigns, ensuring seamless execution across all initiatives.
- Define KPIs for awareness, engagement, and conversion to measure and optimize media impact.
- Work with the creative team to ensure media placements align with Mandarin Oriental's luxury brand image and storytelling approach.
- Leverage first-party data and audience insights for targeted personalization.
- Lead testing and learning initiatives, analyzing performance data to refine strategies.
Hotel Media Support & Alignment
- Provide strategic guidance to hotel marketing teams, aligning local media plans with global strategy.
- Develop tools, templates, and best practices for hotel media campaigns.
- Establish review and reporting processes for hotel media investments.
Experiential Media & Branded Content
- Oversee experiential media activations and branded content, enhancing brand positioning at cultural events and sponsorships.
- Collaborate with social and influencer teams for earned media amplification.
Performance Measurement & Budget Optimization
- Manage the global media budget, allocating funds strategically across campaigns.
- Establish reporting frameworks to measure effectiveness and inform decisions.
- Align media investments with business goals and priorities.
Industry Trends & Innovation
- Stay updated on luxury, travel, and media industry trends to identify new opportunities.
- Explore emerging platforms, programmatic innovations, and ad technologies.
- Position Mandarin Oriental as a leader in luxury media innovation, securing premium placements and exclusive opportunities.
