Job summary

EMBL-EBI invites applications for a Plant Genomics and Variation Team Leader based at Hinxton. You will lead ~15 staff, drive Ensembl plant, invertebrate and EVA resources, and engage with global partners to advance genomic variation data.

You will shape strategy, secure funding, supervise budgets, collaborate with Team Leaders, and represent EMBL-EBI in international consortia, journals and grants.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent experience in bioinformatics or life sciences.
• 6+ years in bioinformatics/genomics, with plant science focus preferred.
• Experience with big data and genetic variation data.
• Proven project and staff management experience.
• Excellent written and spoken communication; ability to engage diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead a multidisciplinary team of ~15 staff and set strategic direction.
• Oversee the EVA and Ensembl plant/invertebrate resources.
• Manage budgets, HR, and grant life-cycle activities.
• Foster collaborations with international partners and consortia.
• Represent EMBL-EBI in meetings, publications and proposals.
