About the role
The Global Head of Media plays a critical role in building superior brands and driving growth for Haleon . At Haleon we see M edia as a growth driver and have seen lifts in the contribution to sales from this key lever . We have good levels of investment and are focused on continuous improvement in efficiency and effectiveness to ensure strong shareholder returns. There are opportunities ahead to drive transformation embracing the opportunities the fast-changing exte rnal landscape offers a s well as the further use of data and technology , including AI . T he Global Head of Media will play a significant part as one of the architects of this change. Th e role has high impact, ensuring effective media planning, buying and execution and is responsible for initiating the key programs and initiatives critical to Haleon’s commercial success.
The successful candidate will report to the Global Head of Marketing Services and set the overarching Global Media strategy, leading the direction and agenda for the Categories, Brands and with the Business Units (100 brands in over 90 markets). They will guide a team of media specialists , direct and matrixed, who are tasked with deliverin g the strategy to help the organi s ation grow exponentially .
Key responsibilities
Strategy : To author and drive the Media Vision, Strategy and Roadmap to achieve an effective media approach. Drives a purpose driven agenda, by encapsulating Haleon’s values within the media planning, buying and measurement .
Planning : Responsible for category and brand planning, audience segmentation, sufficiency, infusing creativity embracing and creating best practice
Buying: Responsible for the media investment model, auditing, KPIs, media channel diversification, brand safety, ad technology, search, dcommerce media.
Measurement – Partners with our Consumer Business Insights and Analytics team as well as external partners to ensure to test and learn, meaningful measurement, verification, supporting the local teams with best practice , monthly performance reviews, creating a feedback learning loop s for the organisation , implementing course corrective action at pace
Capabil ity Development: Builds an operating model and enabling capabilities that deliver media driven sales in the short and long terms and ensures we build strong meaningful, different and salient brands. Continuously improves the ways of working across all media functions to implement Global effectiveness agenda.
Partner Management: Accountable for the media agency relationship, scope and execution setting compensation model, KPIs/SLAs to deliver continued value to the business .
Thought Leadership and Innovation : Bring the external into Haleon with game-changing media practices, technology and partners to help drive improved consumer connections and business impact . Works in partnership with Haleon’s Data & Technology teams to ensure we advance our digital, data and audience back approach for impact.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: partner closely with global functions, Categories and BU’s to lead change at pace . Able to push Haleon to go beyond through exceptional collaboration skills, change management and risk mitigation.
Qualifications and skills
The role requires significant experience in the following areas:
Working client-side (& agency experience beneficial) , leading media and/or advertising departments .
Setting media strategy, partnering with both senior internal ( Global and B U) and external (agency leaders) s takeholders .
L eading a team of media specialists th r ough a hybrid direct and matrixed reporting structure.
A comprehensive understanding of the media industry – past, present and future, to enable Haleon to take advantage of gaps and find competitive advantage
Deep understanding of all mature and emerging media channels as well as enabling martech ecosystem.
