Job summary

iCOMAT in Gloucester seeks a Head of Composite Manufacturing Engineering to own how composite parts are made across all plants. You will set process standards, governance and strategy that ME leads deliver locally, and drive RTS from prototype to repeatable production at multiple sites.

You will lead and grow the ME team, manage APQP/PFMEA workflows, and collaborate with RTS machine, software and design groups to ensure scalable, quality manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Composite manufacturing engineering: 10+ years in aerospace/defense/space.
• 5+ years leading manufacturing engineering teams across sites.
• Hands-on knowledge of prepreg layup, autoclave/out-of-autoclave cure, trimming, machining, bonding, NDT.
• Strong command of industrialisation tools (APQP, PFMEA, control plans, FAIR, readiness reviews).
• Working knowledge of AS9100 and aerospace quality requirements.
• Proven record of improving yield, cycle time and cost using lean tools.

Responsibilities

• Own process standards, specifications, routings and ME practices on the shop floor.
• Lead plant Manufacturing Engineering Leads and cross-site teams.
• Industrialisation of new parts and processes from order to production release.
• Quote input: define manufacturing methodology, estimate cycle times, labour, materials and costs.
• Drive rate, cost and capacity with lean problem-solving.
• Ensure quality via AS9100-aligned documentation and audits.
