Job summary

iCOMAT in Gloucester seeks a Head of Composite Manufacturing Engineering to own how composite parts are made across all plants. You will set process standards, technical governance and a long-term manufacturing engineering strategy that site Leads deliver globally, with regular travel to UK facilities.

You will lead the ME Leads, drive APQP, PFMEA, control plans and production readiness reviews, and partner with RTS/automation teams to ensure robust, rate-capable processes.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in aerospace/defence/space production, including taking parts from development into rate production
• 5+ years leading manufacturing engineering teams, across more than one site
• Hands-on knowledge of prepreg layup, autoclave and OOA cure, trimming, machining, bonding and NDT
• Strong command of APQP, PFMEA, control plans, FAIR and production readiness reviews
• Working knowledge of AS9100 and aerospace quality requirements
• Proven lean problem-solving to improve yield, cycle time and cost
• Understanding of composite tooling design, materials and qualification
• Degree or equivalent in manufacturing/engineering
• Clear communicator able to engage with customers, operations and executives
• Proactive, resilient leadership in a fast-growth environment

Responsibilities

• Own the manufacturing engineering strategy and process standards across all sites
• Lead the Manufacturing Engineering Leads and site teams, enabling scalable production
• Industrialise new parts from development to production release with APQP and PFMEA
• Coordinate cost estimation, cycle times, labour, tooling and part pricing for programmes
• Ensure quality through AS9100-aligned documentation and audits
