Job description

Thursday is the IRL dating app and the biggest in-person dating company in the world. We build technology with one job: getting singles off their phones and face to face as quickly as possible. Match, chat, make a plan and meet that day.

We are live in more than 200 cities, bring tens of thousands of people together at our events every month and reach millions more online. Nobody does real-life dating at our scale. Now we are building the next chapter, and we need exceptional people to help us lead it.

The role

We are looking for an Events Operations Manager to take charge of our events operation worldwide. You will lead our regional events managers and make sure every city is firing: the right number of events, brilliant venues and full rooms.

You will know how every city is performing and exactly what to do about it. If you love running a tight ship across lots of moving parts, and want your earnings tied to the results, this is your role.

Reports to

Chief Operating Officer

Location

UK-based, with flexible hours to cover teams in other time zones

Contract

Full time, permanent

What you will do
Lead the regional teams
  • Manage a team of regional events managers across several countries, with regular one-to-ones and performance reviews.
  • Review upcoming events before they go live, from venue and listing to pricing and staffing.
  • Spot events that are under-selling early and agree a plan to fix them.
  • Share what works in one city with the rest of the team, and suggest new venues, formats and dates.
  • Set clear targets for each city and hold the team to them.
Grow the business
  • Hire and onboard new regional managers as we expand.
  • Own the playbook for launching new cities and lead launches with the team.
  • Make sure every city keeps running smoothly through changes in the team.
Monitor spend and report
  • Set and manage marketing budgets for each city with our growth team and keep spend in line with revenue.
  • Keep our events planning accurate and up to date.
  • Report weekly to the leadership team on events, sales, profitability and issues.
What we are looking for
  • Experience running a multi-city operation or leading a remote or field-based team, ideally in events, hospitality or nightlife.
  • A track record of managing people to clear targets.
  • Commercial confidence: comfortable owning a budget and reading a P&L.
  • Highly organised, with strong attention to detail across many locations at once.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Willing to work some early mornings and evenings to support teams in other time zones.
  • Experience hiring and onboarding staff in other countries.
  • Hands-on experience with paid social advertising budgets.
  • Experience launching in new cities or markets.
  • A good understanding of social media and of running brand accounts, including Instagram and TikTok content.
What we offer
  • Base salary of £45,000 to £55,000, depending on experience.
  • Quarterly profit bonus on top, paid on the profit of the events you oversee, so your earnings grow as the business grows.
  • The chance to shape and scale an international events operation.
  • Can start straight away, but we can also be patient for the right candidate
