Job summary

National Grid is seeking a Group Electrical Safety Manager to shape and lead safety strategy across our UK and US operations. You will influence governance, policy development and performance, with a focus on long-term risk reduction and organisational learning.

This strategic role emphasizes leadership, cross-functional collaboration and maintaining safety standards in high-hazard environments, with travel to UK and occasional US as required. A Chartered engineer with NEBOSH is preferred.

Qualifications

• Strategic leadership of electrical safety across the group.
• Influence governance, strategy and performance for UK and US operations.
• Strong capability in risk reduction and organisational learning.
• Willingness to travel UK and occasional US.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert leadership on group electrical safety standards, policies and governance frameworks.
• Partner with business units to align local safety plans with Group strategy.
• Promote ownership and accountability for Electrical Safety across the organisation.
• Develop and lead the Group Electrical Safety assurance strategy and support independent assurance activities.
• Provide input to major projects, executive governance forums and performance reviews.
• Assess effectiveness of controls and recommend improvements to reduce risk.
• Oversee significant Electrical Safety investigations and drive performance metrics and trend analysis.
