Job summary

Gartner, Inc. seeks a Senior Systems Administrator to support the global conferences technology team, deploying, maintaining and supporting systems at venues worldwide.

You will work with the networking team to ensure secure, scalable infrastructure across locations and uphold enterprise standards and vendor requirements. The role requires travel to support systems on site at multiple venues and collaboration with networking to ensure integration and uptime.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field.
• 5–8 years of progressive systems administration experience.
• Experience with distributed, enterprise-scale systems.
• Experience as a Systems Administrator in global environments.
• VMware vSphere/ESX management experience.
• Strong Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), AD, GP knowledge.
• Hands-on with virtual switches, VLANs, and network troubleshooting.
• Experience with redundant, highly available architectures and DR.
• Foundational knowledge of enterprise IT standards and security.
• Collaborative work with networking teams to deliver reliable infrastructure.
• Strong documentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience mentoring junior admins and supporting teams.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, manage, and support VMware vSphere and ESX environments globally.
• Deploy, manage and troubleshoot physical hardware for events.
• Administer Windows Server OS, including patch management and troubleshooting.
• Maintain virtual switch infrastructure, VLANs, and network connectivity.
• Collaborate with networking to integrate systems at venues.
• Support redundant, highly available architectures and DR objectives.
• Drive consistency in system configuration, security, and standards.
• Monitor performance, perform root-cause analysis, and resolve issues.
• Document system configurations and venue-specific requirements.
• Mentor junior administrators and share knowledge within the team.
• Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.
• Coordinate on-call rotations and incident response.
