Job summary

Amey is offering an Industry Placement in Geotechnical Engineering in Birmingham for a 12-month programme starting September 2027. The placement provides hands-on experience within our geotechnical practice, working on real infrastructure projects.

You'll develop practical skills, learn from industry experts and contribute to feasibility, design, and site investigations alongside our team, while balancing study commitments. This paid placement starts at £26,582.

Qualifications

• Currently studying a degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Engineering Geology or a related subject.
• A Full UK driving licence is required.
• This is a paid industry placement for UK-based students.

Responsibilities

• Produce desk studies to determine risk and suitable solutions for design with safety first and foremost.
• Plan and supervise ground investigations to inform geotechnical interventions.
• Carry out geotechnical asset inspections on major infrastructure in Rail and Highways sectors.
• Propose solutions to engineering problems and perform calculations to determine suitability.
• Prepare specifications, drawings and design reports.
• Deliver multidisciplinary schemes in collaboration with colleagues from across Amey Consulting.
