Job summary

WSP in the UK & Ireland is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our London team. You will deliver geotechnical assessments, develop ground models, and contribute to design parameters for a range of projects.

You will manage your own tasks, supervise ground investigations, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams while applying sustainable design and 3D data tools.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of ground risk, site investigation planning and geotechnical interpretation.
• Good knowledge of soil and rock mechanics, engineering geology and geotechnical design principles.
• Experience delivering geotechnical assessments, reports and design calculations in consultancy, contractor or client environments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients.
• Experience supervising ground investigations and site activities safely and effectively.
• A proactive approach to problem solving and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.
• Progress towards Chartered status or commitment to achieve accreditation.

Responsibilities

• Deliver technically sound geotechnical and geological assessments, reports and design outputs for a range of projects.
• Develop ground models, geotechnical interpretation and design parameters to inform engineering solutions.
• Undertake geotechnical analysis and design for slopes, retaining structures, foundations and earthworks.
• Manage own project tasks and work packages, ensuring quality, budget and programme requirements.
• Build relationships with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams as a technical contributor.
• Plan and supervise ground investigations, manage fieldwork and interpret site data.
• Mentor junior engineers and engineering geologists, supporting team development.
• Drive innovation with sustainable design practices and 3D data solutions.
