Job summary

Geotechnical Engineer

Location: Manchester
Salary: £35,000 – £36,000

A specialist geotechnical consultancy is looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to join their Manchester team. The consultancy works on a range of technically challenging projects, offering the opportunity to work closely with experienced engineers and develop a strong technical grounding across the full project lifecycle.

The Role:

• Involvement in ground investigation and site-based activities
• Interpretation of ground investigation data and preparation of technical reports
• Geotechnical design including foundations, retaining structures and slopes
• Ground movement and stability assessments
• Preparation of geotechnical specifications and design documentation
• Liaising with clients, contractors and other consultants
• Undertaking site visits and providing technical input during construction
• Working across a varied portfolio of infrastructure and development projects

The Candidate:

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology
• Previous experience within a geotechnical consultancy
• Good understanding of ground investigation and geotechnical design
• Strong technical and report writing skills
• Comfortable working on site as well as in the office
• Experience with geotechnical software would be beneficial
• Ideally working towards Chartered Engineer/Geologist status
