Job summary

Penguin Recruitment is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their Sheffield team. You will lead geotechnical investigations, produce factual and interpretative reports, and contribute to a varied portfolio across foundations, slopes and earthworks.

Working within a multidisciplinary environment with civil, structural and environmental teams, you will develop your technical and project management skills while mentoring junior engineers and managing projects and budgets in the UK.

Qualifications

• Degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering or Engineering Geology.
• Significant experience in a UK geotechnical consultancy or engineering setting.
• Strong knowledge of geotechnical principles and ground investigation.
• Experience mentoring junior staff and leading projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead geotechnical investigations and produce factual and interpretative reports.
• Design and assess foundations, retaining structures, slopes and earthworks.
• Review ground investigation data and develop ground models.
• Specify and manage site investigations.
• Perform geotechnical calculations and analysis.
• Provide technical input into multidisciplinary projects.
• Liaise with clients, contractors and other consultants.
• Support and mentor junior engineers.
• Manage projects, budgets and technical deliverables.

A well-established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is looking to appoint a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their growing team in Sheffield.

This is a strong opportunity for an experienced geotechnical professional to take a leading role across a varied portfolio of projects, working alongside civil, structural and environmental teams.

The Role

• Leading geotechnical investigations and producing factual and interpretative reports
• Geotechnical design and assessment for foundations, retaining structures, slopes and earthworks
• Reviewing ground investigation data and developing ground models
• Specification and management of site investigations
• Geotechnical calculations and analysis
• Providing technical input into multidisciplinary projects
• Liaising with clients, contractors and other consultants
• Supporting and mentoring junior engineers
• Managing projects, budgets and technical deliverables

About You

• A degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology or a related discipline
• Significant experience within a UK geotechnical consultancy or engineering environment
• Strong knowledge of geotechnical principles and ground investigation
• Experience with geotechnical design and assessment
• Good report writing and technical communication skills
• The ability to manage projects and work independently
• Experience mentoring or supervising junior staffChartered status, or a clear route towards chartership, would be advantageous.
