Job summary

Penguin Recruitment is seeking an experienced Engineering Geologist to join a respected consultancy near Stockport. You will contribute to ground investigation projects, mentor junior staff, and help lead site-based work.

You will oversee site walkovers, Phase 1 desk studies, and soil/rock logging, producing high-quality reports and supporting client engagement. A degree in geology or related field and UK driving licence are required.

Qualifications

• Degree in geology, geoscience, civil engineering, environmental science, or similar.
• Strong reporting and ground investigation experience.
• Ability to mentor and support junior team members.
• Based within commuting distance of Manchester.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed soil and rock logging and produce high-quality reports.

Working within a highly skilled site investigation team, you will oversee and undertake site walkovers, Phase 1 desk studies, and detailed soil and rock logging. You’ll be responsible for producing and reviewing high-quality factual and interpretive reports, managing borehole logging programmes, and providing technical guidance to junior colleagues, while also supporting project coordination and client engagement.
