Job summary

First People Solutions is partnering with a highly respected consulting engineer to grow their Ground Engineering team in Glasgow. The Geotechnical Engineer will work on a diverse range of infrastructure projects, primarily in the power sector, with opportunities across rail and highways, delivering design solutions and technical reports.

The role combines desk studies, ground investigations, and design of foundations/earthworks, supporting projects from feasibility through to detailed design,

Qualifications

• Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Engineering Geology.
• Experience with ground investigations and geotechnical design.
• Experience in technical reporting and design documentation.

Geotechnical Engineer - Glasgow

First People Solutions is working with a highly respected consulting engineer looking to grow their Ground Engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineer to work on a diverse range of infrastructure projects, primarily in the power sector, with opportunities across rail and highways.

The Role

As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will:

• Deliver geotechnical design solutions across a variety of infrastructure projects
• Produce geotechnical calculations, technical reports and design documentation
• Carry out desk studies, specify and interpret ground investigations, and develop practical design solutions
• Design foundations, retaining walls, earthworks and slope stability work
• Support projects from feasibility through to detailed design, with occasional site supervision

Experience

• Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology or a related discipline
• Around 2-5 years' experience within a UK consultancy or design-focused environment.
• Experience with ground investigations, geotechnical design and technical reporting.
• Strong understanding of soil mechanics, foundations and earthworks.
• Working towards chartership (ICE, Geological Society or similar).
• Full UK driving licence.
• Ability to obtain UK Security Clearance is desirable.
