Stratum Reservoir is a global leader in geoscience laboratory services, specializing in the analysis and interpretation of rocks and fluids for the energy, mining, and agricultural industries. Our comprehensive services include reservoir characterization, geochemical analysis, and isotopic analysis, aimed at helping clients assess resource potential and optimize asset utilization. With a network of laboratories worldwide, Stratum Reservoir delivers high-precision analytical data and scientific insights to support informed decision-making throughout the resource lifecycle.

We are currently hiring a Geologist to join our Sedimentology department in the UK, working closely with 100 employees in Norway.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide sedimentological analysis and interpretations to meet project objectives.
  • Conduct petrographic analysis of predominantly clastic samples.
  • Describe and interpret core, sidewall core (SWC), and cuttings.
  • Integrate data from other divisions and third-party partners, including XRF, QEMSCAN, CoreDNA, biostratigraphy, and geochemistry data.
  • Write reports, generate graphic figures, and develop conceptual models.
  • Assist in project management and administrative tasks.
  • Interpret wireline logs and CCA data, including core shift calculations and applications.
  • Support senior sedimentologists in method development, core workshops, training courses, and field trips.
  • Perform other geology-related tasks within the department.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Geology, Physical Geography, or Earth Sciences preferred.
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience preferred; recent graduates with petrography specialization or more experienced candidates interested in routine petrography are encouraged to apply.
  • Background in petrography, diagenesis, sedimentology, stratigraphy, paleontology, or ichnology is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in quantitative petrographic analysis, core description, and knowledge of PETROG software is a plus.
  • Strong foundation in process sedimentology and data integration.
  • Proficiency in Windows Office; experience with WellCAD, IC, Petrel, or similar software is beneficial.
