Job summary

Education Personnel are partnering with a Derby secondary school to recruit a Geography Teacher for an immediate start or January 2027. The role covers KS3 and KS4, with potential KS5 teaching for an experienced candidate, contributing to a thriving Geography department and local fieldwork opportunities.

The ideal candidate holds QTS and has at least 6 months of UK secondary teaching experience, with strong behaviour management and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Ability to plan and deliver KS3/KS4 Geography lessons with potential KS5 teaching.

Responsibilities

• Deliver KS3 & KS4 Geography curriculum; KS5 teaching possible for experienced candidates.
• Plan, prepare, and assess Geography lessons in line with department policy.
• Monitor student progress and organise fieldwork modules; participate in department improvement planning.

Location: Derby

Contract Type: Full-Time / Part-Time

Start Date: Immediate / January 2027

Pay Rate: £130–£230 per day (dependent on experience and responsibilities)

Qualification: QTS required

Experience: Minimum 6 months’ teaching experience in a UK secondary school

Overview:

Education Personnel are delighted to be working in partnership with a progressive and well-respected secondary school in Derby to recruit a dedicated Geography Teacher for a position starting immediately or in January 2027. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Geography educator to contribute to a thriving department and support students at KS3, KS4, and potentially Geography KS5. Derby secondary schools offer great opportunities for local fieldwork and physical/human geographical investigations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver the KS3 & KS4 Geography curriculum, with KS5 teaching available if experienced in Derby
  • Plan, prepare, and assess Geography lessons in line with department policy
  • Monitor student progress and organize required fieldwork modules
  • Contribute to Geography department improvement planning
  • Attend staff meetings, CPD, and parents’ evenings as required

The Ideal Candidate:

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Has at least 6 months of classroom teaching Geography experience in a UK secondary setting
• Is passionate about Geography education and student achievement
• Has excellent behaviour management and communication skills
• Demonstrates a collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to school life
