Job summary

Boyd Recruitment are currently working with a growing power services company to recruit an experienced Generator Engineer with either a mechanical or electrical bias to join their team based in Glasgow

This role involves working on equipment ranging from 20kVA to 2000kVA across workshop and customer-site environments throughout Scotland, with training provided where required. You will perform servicing, fault-finding and installation support as part of a proactive team.

Qualifications

• Experience in mechanical or electrical engineering, including diesel engines.
• Previous generator engineering experience is essential.
• A recognised engineering apprenticeship or qualification, such as City & Guilds, SVQ or NVQ.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of generator control systems such as DeepSea, ComAp or DEIF would be advantageous.
• Own tools and a full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.
• Willingness to undergo an annual Basic Disclosure check.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned servicing, maintenance and inspections of diesel generators and control panels.
• Diagnose faults and complete mechanical and electrical repairs.
• Undertake engine diagnostics using specialist software, with training provided where required.
• Assist with the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
• Carry out load testing and maintain accurate service records.
• Participate in a 1-in-4 standby rota, with additional overtime and call-out opportunities.
• Maintain company service vehicles, tools and parts stock while adhering to health and safety procedures.
