Job summary

Aggreko is hiring a Mechanical Workshop Engineer based at the Lomondgate depot in the Service & Repair team. You will carry out hands-on servicing, maintenance, repairs and fault finding on diesel generators (20–2000kVA), with some basic installation and commissioning.

The role requires time-served apprenticeship or NVQ level 3 in engineering, experience with large engines, and good organisational and IT skills.

Qualifications

• Time served apprenticeship or educated to NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) in an engineering/mechanical subject.
• Experience servicing, repairing large engines (generators, HGV, plant equipment, agricultural machinery).
• Good organisational & communication skills.
• Good level of PC literacy including basic MS Office applications.
• Well organised and capable of keeping vehicle to GSCS standards.

Responsibilities

• Carry out fault finding, repairs, and load testing on diesel generators (20–2000kVA), including major engine overhauls.
• Assess equipment condition on return from hire, completing upgrades, modifications, and improvements to maintain fleet quality.
• Work across AC/DC electrical systems, supporting diagnostics, ECM programming, and control module configuration.
