Job summary

Holcim UK is hiring two General Operatives for the Lee Moor site. This permanent, full-time role runs Monday to Friday, 06:30–16:30, offering hands-on work across fixed and mobile plant equipment including loading shovels and rigid dump trucks.

Training can be provided across additional machinery and processes. You will join a supportive team where safety, quality and continuous improvement drive daily operations.

Qualifications

• This role requires experience in an industrial, quarrying, production or heavy plant setting.
• You work well in a team and communicate across site operations.
• You are organised, reliable and able to perform in a fast-paced production environment.
• You maintain high safety and housekeeping standards with a proactive approach.

Responsibilities

• Operate mobile plant equipment safely and perform daily safety inspections.
• Support fixed production plant and assist with site production activities.
• Monitor product quality, dispatch materials and keep production records.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards across plant areas and equipment.
• Respond to issues and coordinate with maintenance to minimise downtime.

The Opportunity

We have two positions to be a General Operative and join our team at the Lee Moor site, working across the secondary processing operation. This is a permanent, full-time position working Monday to Friday, 06:30–16:30, offering the chance to develop your skills across fixed plant operations and mobile plant equipment including Loading Shovels and Rigid Dump Trucks.

This is a hands‑on role within a supportive team environment where safety, quality and continuous improvement are central to daily operations. Whether you already hold experience operating one piece of plant equipment or have worked within a similar industrial environment, full training can be provided across additional machinery and processes. What You'll Be Doing

• Operating mobile plant equipment including Loading Shovels and Articulated Dump Trucks safely and efficiently, carrying out daily safety inspections before use

• Supporting the operation of fixed production plant and assisting with production activities across the site

• Monitoring product quality, dispatching materials and ensuring production records and plant logs are accurately maintained

• Maintaining high housekeeping standards across plant areas, equipment and surrounding workspaces to ensure a safe and tidy environment

• Responding promptly to operational issues and breakdowns, working closely with site management and maintenance teams to minimise downtime

Who you are

• You have previous experience within a similar industrial, quarrying, production or heavy plant environment

• You work well as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues across site operations

• You are organised, reliable and able to work efficiently within a fast-paced production environment
