Job summary

The Retreat at Elcot Park, part of The Signet Collection, is seeking a General Manager to lead our Berkshire hotel and guest experience with a commercial focus.

You will inspire a Heads of Department team, balance guests, metrics and people, and shape a service that feels natural, warm and effortless.

This role reports to the Operations Director and offers a competitive salary, private healthcare, pension, 28 days holiday, and a GM bonus scheme.

Qualifications

• Five years in a senior operational role within a quality hotel or inn with rooms.
• Calm when it’s busy, organised when it’s complex, and consistently effective.
• You understand the numbers but prioritise people.
• You notice the small details and know they’re rarely small.
• You lead in a natural, unforced way and take pride in making things feel right.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support a team of Heads of Department, setting the tone and keeping everyone moving.
• Take ownership of the hotel’s commercial performance with a thoughtful growth approach.
• Ensure the guest experience feels natural—warm, polished, and effortless.
• Build a team culture that people want to be part of and choose to stay in.
• Balance the bigger picture with the smallest details, because both matter.
• Work closely with the Managing Partner and Central Support Team.
