£60,000 - £67,000

This business provides a tailored logistics service worldwide including air, ocean and road.

The General Manager will provide strategic leadership on site to achieve operational excellence through all aspects of our people, financial, operation and processes to enable an efficient and cost-effective service from the Stoke site.

• Full financial responsibility for the site.
• Manage all site performance, making sure the operation runs effectively and efficiently.
• Promote and implement a continuous improvement programme, to make sure service levels maintain a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
• Liaise with central functions - such as HR, Finance, European Operations and Transport - to ensure operational activities are co-ordinated in achieving site KPIs and targets.
• Work in partnership with the Head of UK transport for fleet renewals
• Ensuring services are provided within budget and action plans developed and implemented to improve operational efficiencies
• Maintain and enhance service levels for the European Operations team
• Partner with peers and other key contacts throughout the company, Transport, Supply,
• Sales, Finance, Customer Services and Customers, to ensure the successful flow of merchandise and resolving issues that may hinder the departments achieving planned targets.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and standards. Encourage and develop a positive approach to H&S matters
• Ensure all legal, insurance and risk management requirements are met, and equipment is maintained properly.
• Participating in Operational Meetings and updating Managers with accurate, relevant information to enable them to work effectively.
  
  

Required Experience & Skills

• A proven track record in managing a closed book multiuser site encompassing fulfilment, cross-dock and transportation.
• Experience and knowledge of managing and operating transportation
• Awareness of modern warehouse management systems
• Significant managerial experience
• Able to promote and manage change
