Job summary

Merlin's SEA LIFE Scarborough is seeking a highly capable General Manager to lead the attraction, drive financial performance, and uphold guest experience standards.

You will work with the Aquarium Curator and care teams to ensure wellbeing of aquatic life, develop the annual business plan, manage budgets, and explore growth opportunities in merchandising, food & beverage and photography.

Qualifications

• Significant senior management experience in a complex commercial business.

Responsibilities

• Deliver all financial targets for SEA LIFE Scarborough.

What you'll bring to the team

We have an amazing opportunity for a highly motivated, entrepreneurial and self-driven General Manager. Stepping into the world of glistening scales and razor-sharp teeth at SEA LIFE Scarborough!

In this exciting, multi-faceted senior management role you will report into the Regional Director for our rest of UK Gateway attractions. You’ll be responsible for delivering all financial targets for SEA LIFE, whilst maintaining the brand standards of presentation and guest experience, as well as ensuring health and safety is always paramount.

You’ll help drive visitor volume to the attraction, develop and deliver an annual business plan, maintain financial forecasts, develop revenue streams and explore innovative growth opportunities in commercial areas such as retail, food & beverage and photography.

With the support of your Aquarium Curator and the animal care team, you’ll also be responsible for ensuring the wellbeing, health, and effective care of a diverse range of fish and other aquatic creatures at our SEA LIFE attraction.

This role is full-time and includes working a regular, fair share of weekends and bank holidays as required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Someone who has significant management experience at a senior level in a complex, multi-functional commercial business
• You’ll have a flair for networking
• A real passion for this business and the ability to manage relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders
• Possess excellent commercial and financial acumen as well as a real creative and unique flair
• Have excellent communication and motivational skills
• Experience in ensuring safety is paramount, managing operational budgets and reviewing and updating operational procedures
