Job summary

Merlin Entertainments is seeking a highly motivated General Manager for SEA LIFE Scarborough. You will report to the Regional Director for the UK Gateway attractions, delivering financial targets while upholding brand standards and guest experience.

You will drive visitor numbers, develop business plans, forecast finances, and explore growth opportunities in retail, F&B, and photography. With support from the Aquarium Curator and care team, you will ensure wellbeing and care of a diverse range

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of all financial targets for SEA LIFE Scarborough.
• Develop and deliver an annual business plan and financial forecasts.
• Drive visitor numbers and growth across retail, food & beverage and photography.
• Ensure wellbeing and care of aquatic life in collaboration with aquarium team.
• Oversee health and safety, brand standards and guest experience.
• Manage weekends and bank holidays as required.

Job description

We have an amazing opportunity for a highly motivated, entrepreneurial and self-driven General Manager. Stepping into the world of glistening scales and razor-sharp teeth at SEA LIFE Scarborough!

In this exciting, multi-faceted senior management role you will report into the Regional Director for our rest of UK Gateway attractions. You’ll be responsible for delivering all financial targets for SEA LIFE, whilst maintaining the brand standards of presentation and guest experience, as well as ensuring health and safety is always paramount.

You’ll help drive visitor volume to the attraction, develop and deliver an annual business plan, maintain financial forecasts, develop revenue streams and explore innovative growth opportunities in commercial areas such as retail, food & beverage and photography.

With the support of your Aquarium Curator and the animal care team, you’ll also be responsible for ensuring the wellbeing, health, and effective care of a diverse range of fish and other aquatic creatures at our SEA LIFE attraction.

This role is full-time and includes working a regular, fair share of weekends and bank holidays as required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Someone who has significant management experience at a senior level in a complex, multi-functional commercial business
• You’ll have a flair for networking
• A real passion for this business and the ability to manage relationships across a diverse range of stakeholders
• Possess excellent commercial and financial acumen as well as a real creative and unique flair
• Have excellent communication and motivational skills
• Experience in ensuring safety is paramount, managing operational budgets and reviewing and updating operational procedures
