General Assistant

Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Salary: £12.50 per hour
Hours: 40 per week

About the role

An established international boarding school for ages 14+ in the heart of Cambridge, catering for 300 students and staff daily. The role involves supporting catering services, including meal provision and event support.

Key responsibilities

1. Support the team with serving customers, replenishing stocks, and cleaning.
2. Prepare service areas for meal services.
3. Set up, serve, clear, clean, and store food, beverages, and equipment for functions.
4. Prepare basic food following hygiene and safety standards.
5. Replenish stocks during service to ensure smooth operation.
6. Manage waste and recycling appropriately.
7. Occasionally work evenings and weekends for events.
8. Adhere to food standards, manage wastage, and follow hygiene policies.

Skills and qualifications

1. Teamwork, good listening skills, and personal presentation.
2. Flexibility, reliability, honesty, and customer service orientation.
3. Willingness to learn and take responsibility.
4. Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy items.
