Job summary

The Oldham Academy North, part of the E-ACT family, is seeking an enthusiastic English Tutor to provide focused academic support for Key Stages 3 and 4. You will work with individuals and small groups to raise attainment and engagement in English while preparing students for internal assessments and GCSEs.

You will plan tailored intervention programmes, monitor progress, and collaborate with English teachers and pastoral staff to ensure every learner receives the support they need to succeed.

Qualifications

• Degree in English or related subject, or an equivalent qualification.
• Experience of supporting young people and delivering targeted interventions in an educational setting.
• Strong knowledge of effective English teaching, learning and tutoring strategies.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain concepts clearly to students of varying abilities.
• Ability to motivate and inspire students, building confidence, resilience and independent learning skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality one-to-one and small-group English tuition to support student progress and attainment.
• Plan and deliver targeted intervention programmes tailored to individual learning needs.
• Monitor, assess and record student progress, adapting support to maximise outcomes.
• Support students preparing for internal assessments, GCSE examinations and other relevant qualifications.
• Work closely with English teachers and pastoral staff to identify and support students requiring additional intervention
