Job summary

Eden Brown Synergy is seeking an enthusiastic English Teacher to deliver GCSE and Functional Skills in a Lancashire FE college. The role is full-time, temporary and involves high-quality teaching across key English programmes.

You will help students develop literacy, communication and employability skills, supporting progress and qualifications in a collaborative college environment.

Role: English Teacher - GCSE & Functional Skills

Location: Lancashire

Rate: £220 - £250 per day

Contract: Temporary, Full Time

About the role

Eden Brown are currently looking for an enthusiastic and experienced English Teacher to join the team at a Further Education College in Lancashire on a full-time, temporary basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality English teaching across GCSE and Functional Skills, supporting students to develop their literacy, communication and employability skills and achieve their qualifications.

You will be joining a supportive college environment and will play an important role in helping students make progress, build confidence and achieve their academic goals.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging and effective English lessons across GCSE and Functional Skills programmes.


• Teach and support students of varying abilities and backgrounds, adapting teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs.


• Prepare students effectively for examinations and assessments.


• Develop students confidence in reading, writing, speaking and listening.


• Monitor, assess and record student progress in line with college procedures.


• Provide constructive feedback to help students understand and improve their work.


• Maintain accurate records of attendance, achievement & student progress.


• Work collaboratively with colleagues to support students wider educational and personal development.


• Contribute to the development of teaching and learning resources and schemes of work.


• Maintain a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.


• Promote high standards of behaviour, attendance and engagement.


• Ensure all teaching and learning is delivered in accordance with college policies and safeguarding requirements.

About you

• You will have relevant teaching experience and a strong subject knowledge of English.


• Experience of teaching GCSE English and Functional Skills English within a Further Education setting would be highly desirable.


• You will have the ability to engage and motivate students with a range of abilities and educational backgrounds.


• You will be confident planning and delivering lessons and preparing students for examinations and assessments.

You will be organised, reliable and approachable, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

You will hold recognised teaching qualification and relevant English qualification

A DBS is also required for this role.
