Job summary

Teaching Personnel are partnering with a welcoming mainstream secondary school in the BB18 area of Lancashire to recruit a dedicated Teacher of English for a full-time long-term role.

The successful applicant will join a supportive English department and teach across KS3 and KS4, delivering engaging lessons and supporting students’ literacy and analytical skills. The position runs after October Half-Term 2026 to July 2027.

• This role requires QTS and experience delivering English to KS3/KS4.
• Strong classroom management and clear communication with students, parents and colleagues.

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a welcoming and well-established mainstream secondary school in the BB18 area of Lancashire to recruit a dedicated Teacher of English for a full-time long-term position.

This role will commence after October half-term 2026 and continue through to the end of the academic year, with full teaching responsibilities expected.

The Role:

The successful candidate will join a supportive English department and be responsible for delivering engaging and inspiring lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. You will play an important role in helping students develop their literacy, analytical and communication skills while fostering a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities will include:

• Planning and delivering high-quality English lessons.
• Assessing, monitoring and reporting on student progress.
• Differentiating learning to meet the needs of all students.
• Creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
• Attending departmental meetings, parents' evenings and school events.
• Marking and assessment in line with school policy.
• Undertaking all other responsibilities associated with a full teaching role.

The Ideal Candidate

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4.
• Strong classroom management skills.
• Passion for English and inspiring young people to achieve their potential.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• ECTs and experienced teachers are both encouraged to apply.

• All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
• This advert is for a temporary position.
• In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
