Job summary

TEKsystems seeks a cloud-aware engineer to design, build, and operate scalable, secure AWS-based trading and post-trade platforms. You will work in the Reference Data domain, modernising platform architecture and enabling robust data integration across trading ecosystems.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

This role sits within a global Securities Financing Technology function and focuses on designing, building, and operating scalable, resilient cloud-based trading and post-trade platforms. You will work within the Reference Data platform team, responsible for a critical integration layer that connects multiple systems across the trading ecosystem. The position centres on modernising platform architecture, improving scalability, and enabling robust data integration across domains such as Synthetic Trading, DeltaOne, Stock Borrow Loan, Prime Brokerage, and Repo, using both AWS and GCP technologies. The team operates with a strong DevOps and Agile mindset, emphasising automation, continuous improvement, and close collaboration with business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate AWS-based cloud infrastructure to support Securities Financing trading and post-trade platforms.
• Own and contribute across the end-to-end delivery lifecycle, including solution design, deployment, monitoring, and optimisation of cloud infrastructure and data platforms.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK to ensure consistent and repeatable environments.
• Enable and support microservices architecture deployment using containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes/EKS.
• Implement scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems that align with enterprise architecture standards.
• Collaborate closely with application developers, traders, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, reliable, and high-performance cloud solutions.
• Implement and enhance CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices to automate build, test, and deployment workflows.
• Ensure security, compliance, and governance standards are consistently met across AWS environments, including IAM, encryption, and network security controls.
• Monitor system health, performance, and cost using appropriate observability tools, and proactively drive optimisation initiatives.
• Work with relational databases and data integration patterns to support reference data and other financial data domains.
• Collaborate with global technology teams to ensure platform stability, operational excellence, and consistent service levels.
• Contribute to the modernisation of platform architecture and the integration of data across multiple Securities Financing domains.
• Support and enhance data engineering workflows on cloud platforms, including GCP, where relevant to the wider data and analytics landscape.

Essential Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, including compute (EC2, Lambda, ECS/EKS), storage (S3, EBS), databases (RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB), and networking (VPC, load balancers, API gateways).
• Proven experience in designing and operating distributed systems and cloud-native architectures in complex environments.
• Strong proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, and AWS CDK.
• Solid experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies, particularly Docker and Kubernetes/EKS.
• Good understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools to support continuous delivery.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, and observability tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Strong understanding of security best practices in cloud environments, including IAM, encryption, and network security.
• Significant experience working with relational databases and data integration patterns.
• Familiarity with automated testing and deployment pipelines within a cloud and DevOps context.
• Experience working in financial services or investment banking technology environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with global teams.
• Experience in systems engineering and general engineering disciplines relevant to large-scale platforms.

• Experience with Reference Data platforms or financial data domains and their integration across trading ecosystems.
• Exposure to multi-cloud environments, particularly GCP or Azure.
• Experience with data platforms and analytics services such as Redshift and Athena.
• Knowledge of event-driven architectures and messaging technologies such as SNS, SQS, and Kafka.
