Job summary

Russell Taylor Group is seeking an LC-MS Laboratory Analyst for the Bedford facility, working evenings from 14:00 to 22:00, Monday to Friday. The role focuses on hands-on LC-MS operation, method development, and high-quality data reporting within a UKAS-compliant environment.

You will perform sample prep (LLE, SPE, QuEChERS), maintain instruments, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to meet project deadlines. A science degree or substantial UKAS lab experience is preferred.

• Experience operating LC-MS (single/triple quadrupole) in an accredited setting.

Responsibilities

• Operate LC-MS instruments (single/triple quad) and perform routine maintenance.
• Conduct sample prep (LLE, SPE, QuEChERS) following SOPs.
• Analyze chromatographic data and generate reports for stakeholders.
• Develop and optimise analytical methods for priority compounds.
• Collaborate with lab staff and project teams to meet timelines.

LC/MS Laboratory Analyst, evenings

Location: Bedford

Type: Permanent

Hours: 14:00- 22:00 Monday- Friday

Russell Taylor is partnering with a global testing company who are looking to expand their analytical team/s at their modern state of the art testing UKAS testing facility. They are looking for two analysts in for their Gas Chromatography and Liquid Chromatography teams.

The role:

• Technical LC-MS expertise: Hands-on experience operating single and triple quadrupole LC-MS instrumentation (including ESI/APCI), alongside routine maintenance and troubleshooting activities.
• Analytical workflow execution: Skilled in sample preparation techniques such as LLE, SPE, and QuEChERS, with experience in trace-level organic analysis and strict adherence to established SOPs and quality control procedures.
• Data analysis and reporting: Proficient in processing chromatographic and mass spectral data, conducting quality control checks, and producing clear, accurate reports for stakeholders.
• Method development and problem solving: Experience in developing and optimising analytical methods for emerging or priority compounds, with adaptability to evolving regulatory requirements.
• Collaborative operations: Demonstrated ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including laboratory staff and project personnel, to meet workflow targets and delivery timelines.

The Person:

• Will ideally hold a degree in a relevant- Scientific/ STEM (Chemistry biased) field or significant experience in a UKAS testing laboratory function.
• Experienced in using LC/MS instruments (troubleshooting, maintenance exp)- in an accredited setting (UKAS, GLP, chemical etc).
