Job summary

Anchor Group Services is hiring a Gatehouse Security Officer at Shotton Paper Mill in Deeside Industrial Park. You will manage site access, ensure security procedures are followed, and be the first point of contact for visitors, contractors and staff. A valid SIA frontline licence and a UK driving licence are essential.

You will deliver high standards of customer service, operate gatehouse systems, and maintain accurate records while remaining vigilant and professional at all times.

Responsibilities

• Protect client property, people and assets per site procedures
• Prevent losses by reporting irregularities and informing policy
• Control access to site via gatehouse per procedures
• Verify identification and issue passes to authorised personnel
• Act as main point of contact for all site visitors
• Maintain records of site access, vehicle logs and visitor docs
• Operate gatehouse systems including barriers, CCTV, radios and access control
• Escalate incidents to Control Room/Management/Emergency Services
• Complete detailed reports on observations and incidents
• Support wider security operations including patrols
• Maintain compliance with health & safety and site requirements
• Respond to queries from staff, contractors and visitors

Job description

Job Role: Gatehouse Security Officer

Working Hours: 4 on 4 off shift pattern, with rotation between days (05:30–17:30) & nights (17:30–05:30) - average 42 hours per week

Pay: £13.42 per hour

Location: Shotton Paper Mill, Weighbridge Road, Deeside, CH5 2LW

Reporting to: Operations Manager

Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Anchor Group Services for an experienced Gatehouse Security Officer to join our established security team based at Shotton Paper Mill in Deeside Industrial Park.

We are looking for professional and vigilant individuals who will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the gatehouse, controlling access to the site, maintaining site security procedures, and acting as the first point of contact for all visitors, contractors, and staff.

You will be required to deliver a high standard of customer service, manage access control systems, ensure a secure and safe site, and remain alert at all times. The successful candidate must hold a valid SIA Licence and a full UK Driving Licence.

Duties Include

• Protecting the client’s property, people and/or assets by providing security services in direct accordance with the sites published Assignment Instructions (AI’s) and site-specific procedures
• Preventing losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing offenders of policy and procedures
• Controlling access to and from site via the gatehouse, including checking vehicles, visitors, and staff in line with site procedures
• Verifying identification and issuing passes to authorised personnel, visitors, and contractors
• Acting as the main point of contact for all site visitors, providing a professional and welcoming service
• Maintaining accurate records of site access, vehicle logs, and visitor documentation
• Operating gatehouse systems including barriers, CCTV, radios, and access control systems
• Preventing and escalating incidents in a timely and appropriate manner to the Control Room, Shift Manager, Operations Manager, or Emergency Services as appropriate
• Completing detailed reports by recording observations, incidents, and daily activity logs
• Supporting wider security operations when required, including periodic patrols if necessary
• Maintaining the organisation’s reputation by complying with all legal, health & safety, and site-specific requirements
• Responding to queries and requests from staff, contractors, and visitors efficiently and professionally
• Maintaining a high standard of professionalism, vigilance, and customer focus at all times

Requirements
