Job summary

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay is seeking a Consultant Gastroenterologist to join a committed team at Royal Lancaster Infirmary in Lancaster. The post is permanent, full time (10 sessions per week) with a strong focus on high quality patient care and a variety of sub-specialty interests.

You will work within a supportive environment, participate in a 24/7 GI bleeding rota, and engage in education and audit in partnership with Lancaster Medical School and Health Education England North

Qualifications

• Full GMC registration with licence to practice and entry on the Specialist Register or within six months of obtaining CCT in Gastroenterology.
• JAG accreditation for upper and lower diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy.
• Higher degree (MD, PhD) and a track record of academic or clinical research.
• Membership of appropriate professional societies.

Responsibilities

• The post will be based at Royal Lancaster Infirmary with travel to other UHMB sites as required.
• Provide cross-site GI bleed cover and Endoscopy sessions/clinics as part of a 7-day service.
• Join a team of eight consultants supported by Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Clinical Nurse Specialists.
• Contribute to medical education and training in partnership with Lancaster Medical School and Health Education England North West.
• Maintain high standards of patient care with a 24/7 GI bleeding rota on weekends.
