Job summary

18 Recruitment Limited currently seeks a Gas Service & Breakdown Engineer for permanent work within social housing repairs across occupied and void properties. You will service, inspect, and repair domestic gas heating systems, ensuring compliance with Gas Safe regulations and safety standards.

Role includes a structured out-of-hours call-out rota, company van, fuel card, and opportunities to work with a professional team delivering essential heating services to residents in the region.

Qualifications

• Current Gas Safe Registration is required.
• Proven experience as a Gas Service & Breakdown Engineer.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills essential.
• Experience in social housing repairs desirable.
• Must possess own basic tools.
• Full clean UK driving licence.
• DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Carry out annual gas safety inspections and landlord gas safety certificates (CP12s).
• Service, maintain, and repair domestic gas boilers and heating systems.
• Diagnose and repair boiler and central heating breakdowns.
• Fault-find across a variety of domestic gas appliances and heating systems.
• Carry out repairs and replacements of heating controls, valves, pumps, radiators, and associated components.
• Respond to emergency heating and hot water breakdowns.
• Complete gas tightness testing and gas safety checks.
• Ensure all work complies with Gas Safe regulations.
• Provide excellent customer service while visiting tenants’ homes.
• Accurately complete certification, job sheets, and compliance documentation.
• Participate in compulsory out-of-hours emergency call-out rota.
• Maintain van stock and ensure materials are used efficiently.
• Adhere to health and safety procedures and company policies.

Are you a Gas Safe Registered Engineer looking for a secure, long-term opportunity within the social housing sector? We are seeking an experienced Gas Service & Breakdown Engineer to join a busy repairs and maintenance team delivering high-quality servicing, repairs, and breakdown support across occupied and void social housing properties.

This is a permanent role offering a company van, fuel card, and a structured out-of-hours emergency call-out rota.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Carry out annual gas safety inspections and landlord gas safety certificates (CP12s)
• Service, maintain, and repair domestic gas boilers and heating systems
• Diagnose and repair boiler and central heating breakdowns
• Fault-find across a variety of domestic gas appliances and heating systems
• Carry out repairs and replacements of heating controls, valves, pumps, radiators, and associated components
• Respond to emergency heating and hot water breakdowns

• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with Gas Safe regulations and current legislation

Requirements

• * Experience working within social housing repairs and maintenance is highly desirable
• * ACS Qualifications including:
• * CCN1
• * CENWAT
• * CKR1
• * HTR1
• * Experience servicing, repairing, and maintaining domestic heating systems
• * Excellent customer service and communication skills
• * Ability to work independently and manage a busy workload
• * Must possess own basic trade tools
• * Full clean UK driving licence
• * Clean DBS check

Out of Hours Call-Out

• * Compulsory emergency call-out rota
• * Working pattern: One week on, one week off
• * Responding to emergency heating, hot water, and gas-related issues outside normal working hours
