Job summary

Qualifications

• Gas Safe Registration is required.
• ACS qualifications CCN1/CENWAT/CKR1/HTR1 are desirable.
• Experience in social housing repairs and maintenance is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out annual gas safety inspections and CP12 certificates.
• Service, maintain and repair domestic gas boilers and heating systems.
• Diagnose and repair boiler and central heating breakdowns.
• Fault-find across domestic gas appliances and heating systems.
• Carry out repairs and replacements of heating controls, valves, pumps, radiators and related components.
• Respond to emergency heating and hot water breakdowns.
• Complete gas tightness testing and gas safety checks.
• Ensure work complies with Gas Safe regs and laws.
• Provide excellent customer service in tenants' homes.
• Complete all certification, job sheets and compliance documentation.
• Participate in compulsory out-of-hours emergency call-out rota.
• Maintain van stock and materials usage.

Permanent Position | Company Van & Fuel Card Provided | OOH Call Out Rota

Are you a Gas Safe Registered Engineer looking for a secure, long-term opportunity within the social housing sector? We are seeking an experienced Gas Service & Breakdown Engineer to join a busy repairs and maintenance team delivering high-quality servicing, repairs, and breakdown support across occupied and void social housing properties.

This is a permanent role offering a company van, fuel card, and a structured out-of-hours emergency call-out rota.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Carry out annual gas safety inspections and landlord gas safety certificates (CP12s)
• Service, maintain, and repair domestic gas boilers and heating systems
• Diagnose and repair boiler and central heating breakdowns
• Fault-find across a variety of domestic gas appliances and heating systems
• Carry out repairs and replacements of heating controls, valves, pumps, radiators, and associated components
• Respond to emergency heating and hot water breakdowns
• Complete gas tightness testing and gas safety checks
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with Gas Safe regulations and current legislation
• Provide excellent customer service while working in tenants' homes
• Accurately complete all certification, job sheets, and compliance documentation
• Participate in the compulsory out-of-hours emergency call-out rota
• Maintain van stock and ensure materials are used efficiently
• Adhere to all health and safety procedures and company policies

Requirements

• * Current Gas Safe Registration
• * Proven experience as a Gas Service & Breakdown Engineer
• * Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• * Experience working within social housing repairs and maintenance is highly desirable
• * ACS Qualifications including:
• * CCN1
• * CENWAT
• * CKR1
• * HTR1
• * Experience servicing, repairing, and maintaining domestic heating systems
• * Excellent customer service and communication skills
• * Ability to work independently and manage a busy workload
• * Must possess own basic trade tools
• * Full clean UK driving licence
• * Clean DBS check

Out of Hours Call-Out

• * Compulsory emergency call-out rota
• * Working pattern: One week on, one week off
• * Responding to emergency heating, hot water, and gas-related issues outside normal working hours
