The Vacancy

Here at Wates, we have an exciting opportunity for a Gas Engineer to join our Living Space team in the Barnsley area. This is a full-time, permanent position with flexible working options, closing in 19 days at 23:59 BST.

Role Overview

The primary focus of this role is to undertake tasks related to annual gas servicing, repairs, maintenance, and installation work. The goal is to deliver high standards of workmanship in a timely and productive manner while providing excellent customer service to clients at all times.

Key Responsibilities

1. Complete domestic gas servicing, repairs, maintenance, and installation work adhering to gas safety regulations.
2. Advise supervisors promptly when additional trades are required for follow-up work.
3. Work effectively as part of a team and confidently work independently.
4. Use a PDA to receive and complete allocated jobs.
5. Work efficiently to complete assigned jobs.
6. Be flexible and adaptable to business needs.
7. Participate in out-of-hours call-out services.
8. Provide excellent customer service to clients and customers.
9. Work in accordance with Wates Health & Safety standards and company policies, including safeguarding.

Candidate Requirements

Applicants should already possess an NVQ Level 2-3 or a City and Guilds qualification in Mechanical Discipline or equivalent experience. Required certifications include CCN1, CENWAT, HTR1, and CKR1. Experience in gas servicing, repairs, maintenance, and installation to high standards is essential. Willingness to undertake additional training, especially in renewable technologies like air source heat pumps, is also desirable.
