Job summary

Swindon Borough Council is seeking Gardener x7 to join a mobile landscaping team, under supervision of the senior grounds supervisor. The role supports transforming local landscapes across the Borough of Swindon and provides practical maintenance in public spaces.

You will operate machinery such as tractors, ride-on mowers, hedge cutters, and blowers; driving licence (manual) is required; PA1/PA6 preferred; DBS check will apply; core hours 06:00–22:00 with flexible shifts.

Qualifications

• Good knowledge of working safely and be able to work to a high standard in all weather conditions.
• Hold a full valid UK driving licence for manual gearchange and can drive light goods vehicles.
• Flexibility with working hours as required by the service, with core hours 06:00–22:00.
• Evidence of meeting the essential criteria set out in the role profile's person specification (attached).
• Fluency in English is required for customer-facing role and DBS check will be undertaken.

Responsibilities

• Join a mobile landscaping team under the guidance of the senior grounds supervisor and grounds supervisor.
• Operate mechanically powered machinery such as tractors, ride-on mowers, hedge cutters, and blowers as part of routine grounds maintenance.
