Job summary

Hillier Nurseries Limited in Hemel Hempstead is seeking a friendly Garden Centre Assistant to cover the peak trading period. You will help customers, offer plant and product advice, and keep the centre tidy and well-stocked.

The role offers guaranteed hours of 13.5 or 22.5 per week with flexible overtime during peaks, and an hourly rate up to £12.71. You’ll join a long-standing family business with great benefits.

Qualifications

• Friendly and enthusiastic approach to helping customers.
• Interest in plants and gardening is desirable.
• Willingness to work across different areas of the centre.
• Full training provided.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service and assist customers with queries.
• Offer advice on plants, gardening products and items sold in the garden centre.
• Help maintain health and appearance of plants including watering and pest checks.
• Replenish, price, rotate and display stock to company standards.
• Process payments accurately and handle cash/card transactions.
• Support stock control, deliveries, wastage and reductions.
