Job summary

First Bus in London is seeking four Garage Duty Supervisors for Wandsworth Garage. You will be responsible for safe, efficient run-out/run-in and vehicle allocation, ensuring contingency plans and correct parking in our busy depot.

You will liaise with Engineering and iBus Control, perform pre-service checks, assist drivers, and carry out drugs/alcohol testing when needed. Administrative support and staff coordination are also part of the role.

Qualifications

• Holds a valid PCV Licence.
• Good attendance record is essential.
• Good IT skills for administrative tasks and systems.

Responsibilities

• Supervise bus operations during shift, manage run-out/run-in and vehicle allocation.
• Carry out pre-service checks and arrange contingencies for late departures.
• Liaise with Engineering teams and iBus Control to ensure smooth operations.
• Conduct drugs and alcohol testing when required and assist with admin tasks.
• Manage return of buses and ensure parking areas are clear and orderly.

Job description

An opportunity has arisen for four Garage Duty Supervisors to be based at Wandsworth Garage. You shall be responsible for the safe, efficient and compliant bus run-out / run in and duties associated with the successful operations at a bus depot or their satellite sites.

You will need to ensure there is the correct number of vehicles required to cover the service operated for the duty and ensure correct allocation of vehicles to routes. As well as being the primary supervisory in charge during the allocated shift period, you will conduct pre-service checks to ensure a contingency is in place for late departure and allocate support vehicles, if needed.

Your strong written and verbal communication skills will help you liaise with the Engineering teams and iBus Control to ensure that the run out and run in operates efficiently, making sure that the buses are correctly prepared and plated, assisting drivers as required.

Furthermore, you shall be responsible to carry out drugs and alcohol testing when required. Also, assist the Garage management team with various administration tasks. In addition, you will manage the allocation of returning buses ensuring that car parking areas are clear as possible and buses parked safely and in accordance with parking plan.
