Job summary

Co-op Funeralcare in Hartlepool is seeking a Funeral Service Crew member on a part-time basis to support families with dignity while handling the deceased with care. Training will be provided; no prior funeral experience is required.

You will work 18.75 hours per week, Monday-Sunday, 8am-8pm, with 20% overtime and a call rota, including one night per week and one full weekend. The role offers a range of Co-op benefits and a meaningful community impact.

Qualifications

• Full UK manual driving licence is required.
• Must be able to perform physical tasks including lifting.
• Good IT skills and ability to use a range of devices and systems.
• Ability to stay calm and compassionate in emotional circumstances.
• Strong attention to detail and adherence to policies.

Responsibilities

• Collect the deceased from various locations in a professional and empathetic manner.
• Bear coffins on funeral day and drive funeral vehicles.
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment and facilities, including vehicles.
• Prepare coffins and engrave name plates.
• Prepare the deceased for viewings and the funeral.
• Maintain client management systems with accurate, timely data.
