Job summary

CO-OP’s Funeralcare division seeks dedicated staff to support families through empathetic client service, both in person and by phone, while handling administrative tasks and ensuring a respectful, well-maintained environment for viewing and ceremonies.

Roles involve working with a range of digital systems, occasional manual handling of coffins, and compliance with regulatory policies, with full training and strong benefits package provided by CO-OP.

Qualifications

• Good communication skills, clearly communicating with clients and colleagues in writing and verbally.
• Ability to work with numbers and do simple calculations like cash handling, discounts, data entry and invoicing.
• Keen eye for detail and accuracy to ensure regulatory policies and processes are followed.
• Good IT skills to use a range of devices and learn new applications/systems.
• Passion for delivering great service and building relationships.
• High levels of empathy, discretion and care.
• Ability to perform physical elements of the role, such as moving coffins (training provided).

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and the community.
• Support clients in person and over the phone, arranging family visits and answering questions.
• Keep the funeral home clean, safe, and welcoming, and report maintenance issues.
• Use digital systems to manage client documentation, funeral arrangements and invoicing.
• Refer regulated work (funeral plans) to the Funeral Plan Arrangers.
• Assist in the care and preparation of the deceased for viewing; manual handling duties.
