This is a fantastic opportunity for a tutor who enjoys helping students build confidence, develop practical life skills and work towards recognised qualifications and personal learning goals.

Plan and deliver engaging, structured lessons that are adapted to each student's individual needs, learning style and ability.
Support students with developing essential English skills, including reading, writing, spelling, grammar and communication.
Help students strengthen their Maths skills, including numeracy, calculations, fractions, percentages, measurements, time and applying maths to everyday situations.
Where appropriate, prepare students for Functional Skills assessments and examinations.
Support students who may have gaps in their education, low confidence, additional learning needs or difficulties engaging with traditional classroom environments.
Develop positive and supportive relationships with students to encourage participation, motivation and consistent engagement.
Monitor and record student progress, adapting teaching strategies to help students work towards their individual targets.
Incorporate practical, real-life examples into lessons to help students understand how English and Maths skills can be applied outside the classroom.
Provide a calm, structured and encouraging learning environment that promotes independence and achievement.
Liaise with parents, carers and relevant professionals where required to support the student's educational progress.
A minimum of 2 years' teaching or tutoring experience, ideally delivering Functional Skills or supporting students with English and Maths.
Relevant teaching or tutoring qualifications, with a recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE or QTS preferred.
A strong understanding of the Functional Skills English and Maths curriculum and the requirements of Entry Level, Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications.
Experience supporting children and young people with additional learning needs, SEN or gaps in their education.
A full driving licence and access to reliable transport, as travel between tuition locations may be required.
Confidence adapting teaching methods to suit different abilities, learning styles and levels of engagement.
Excellent communication, organisation and lesson-planning skills.
A patient, encouraging and flexible approach, with the ability to motivate students who may have experienced difficulties within education.
The ability to work independently and create purposeful lessons that support both academic development and practical life skills.
We welcome applicants with a range of availability, whether you are looking for regular weekly tuition or have flexibility across different days and times.
Tuition usually takes place Monday to Friday, with specific days and times depending on the student's needs and the agreed timetable. Flexibility is important, as some students may require tuition during school hours or at other agreed times.
Tutors must be comfortable delivering tuition in a variety of settings, including students' homes, libraries and school environments, depending on the student's circumstances and requirements.
