Job summary

Remedy Tutoring is seeking an experienced Functional Skills Tutor to support students in Coulsdon and surrounding areas. You will deliver tailored English and Maths tuition, focusing on Entry Level to Level 2 qualifications, and adapt lessons to individual needs.

We value patience, flexibility and strong communication, with a minimum of 2 years teaching or tutoring experience and a solid grasp of Functional Skills curricula. A driving licence is preferred due to travel between locations.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years teaching or tutoring experience.
• Relevant teaching or tutoring qualifications, with PGCE or QTS preferred.
• Strong understanding of the Functional Skills English and Maths curriculum and qualifications (Entry Level to Level 2).
• Driving licence and reliable transport for travel between tuition locations.
• Excellent communication, organisation and lesson-planning skills.
• Patient, encouraging and flexible approach to motivate students.

Responsibilities

• Deliver tailored Functional Skills tuition in English and Maths, working towards Entry Level and Level 1/2 qualifications.
• Plan and deliver engaging lessons adapted to each student’s needs and learning style.
• Support students in developing reading, writing, spelling, grammar and numeracy skills.
• Prepare students for Functional Skills assessments when appropriate.
• Develop positive relationships with students to encourage participation and progress.
• Monitor progress and adapt teaching strategies to meet targets.
• Incorporate real-life examples to show practical applications of English and Maths.
• Liaise with parents, carers and professionals to support educational progress.
• Travel between tuition locations as required.
