The role focuses on making English and Maths practical for pupils with additional needs, developing literacy and numeracy for everyday life, further education and independence. You will adapt lessons to individual abilities and work with Teaching Assistants to support progress.

Connex Education Partnership is looking for Functional Skills Teachers to work across specialist SEND schools and provisions in Weston-Super-Mare and the surrounding areas.
This role is ideal for a teacher who can make English and Maths relevant, practical and accessible for pupils with additional needs.
You’ll help young people develop the literacy and numeracy skills they need for everyday life, further education, employment and greater independence, while adapting learning to suit individual abilities.

You may teach pupils with a range of learning, communication, sensory, behavioural and emotional needs, including:
Autism / ASC | SLD | PMLD | SEMH | ADHD | Communication needs | Complex SEND
Pupils may have very different starting points, so lessons should be appropriately differentiated, practical and focused on achievable progress.
Experience in specialist SEND schools, alternative provision, FE or vocational education would be advantageous.
