Job summary

Connex Education Partnership is seeking SEMH/Secondary teachers to support specialist SEND settings across Bristol and surrounding areas. This role offers flexible supply, temporary, long-term and temp-to-perm opportunities with PAYE pay.

As a supply teacher, you will deliver engaging lessons, adapt to pupils with SEMH needs, and help build confidence and resilience in a small, personalised learning environment. QTS is essential and experience with SEND/SEMH is desirable.

Qualifications

  • QTS is essential and secondary teaching experience required.
  • Experience supporting SEND or SEMH pupils is desirable.
  • Strong behaviour and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to adapt lessons for different abilities and needs.
  • Calm, consistent and approachable teaching style.
  • Confidence handling distressed pupils.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

SEMH Teacher – Secondary

Location: Bristol
Pay: £150–£250 per day PAYE

About the Role

Connex Education Partnership is looking for Secondary Teachers of all specialisms to support specialist SEND settings and alternative education provisions across Bristol and the surrounding areas.

This is an excellent opportunity for a secondary qualified teacher who enjoys working with young people who may have experienced barriers to mainstream education and who benefit from a smaller, more personalised learning environment.

As a supply teacher, you may work across a variety of specialist settings, teaching engaging and accessible lessons while helping pupils build confidence, independence, resilience and positive attitudes towards learning.

The Pupils

You may support young people who experience SEMH, behavioural needs, anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, trauma and attachment needs, autism, ADHD, communication difficulties or other complex SEND.

Some pupils may have experienced disrupted education, exclusion or difficult life experiences, and may need additional support with relationships, routines, boundaries and engagement.

Your Role

Depending on the length and expectations of the role, you may:

  • Deliver engaging and accessible secondary lessons

  • Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour

What We’re Looking For

  • QTS is essential
  • Secondary teaching experience
  • Experience supporting SEND or SEMH pupils is desirable
  • Strong behaviour and classroom management skills
  • The ability to adapt lessons for different abilities and needs
  • A calm, consistent and approachable teaching style
  • Confidence working with pupils who may become distressed or dysregulated
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Experience in specialist education, alternative provision, nurture settings or pastoral environments would be advantageous.
