TeacherActive is recruiting a Maths Functional Skills Teacher for a college setting in Durham. Immediate start for a long-term position. You will plan and deliver Functional Skills Maths lessons at Entry Level 1 and 2, assess progress, and adapt teaching to meet diverse student needs.

Applicants should hold QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification, with experience in FE/college environments and strong classroom management. Roles offer market-leading pay and ongoing CPD opportunities.

Job Title: Maths Functional Skills Teacher
Location: Durham
Start Date: Immediate Start
Salary: £160 - £250 per day (Paid to Scale)

Do you have experience delivering Functional Skills Maths at Entry Level 1 and Entry Level 2?

Are you a qualified teacher with strong classroom management skills and the ability to adapt lessons to meet individual learning needs?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a college setting based in Durham, providing education and learning opportunities for students across Key Stage 5 / KS5. The setting focuses on developing essential academic and practical skills, helping young people build confidence, improve their numeracy abilities and prepare for further education, training and employment.

The college is looking to appoint a dedicated Maths Functional Skills Teacher on a long-term basis for an immediate start. The successful Maths Functional Skills Teacher will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging Functional Skills Maths lessons at Entry Level 1 and Entry Level 2, assessing student progress, adapting teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs and supporting students to develop confidence in applying mathematical skills to everyday situations.

The successful Maths Functional Skills Teacher will have:

• Qualified Teacher Status / QTS or a relevant teaching qualification (ECTs are also welcome to apply)
• Experience delivering Functional Skills Maths at Entry Level 1 and Entry Level 2
• Experience teaching or supporting students within a college, Further Education / FE or post-16 setting
• Strong knowledge of Functional Skills Maths and the ability to differentiate lessons for varying abilities
• Excellent classroom management and communication skills
• A patient, adaptable and enthusiastic approach with a genuine passion for supporting young people
