Job summary

TeacherActive Limited is seeking a Functional Skills Tutor to deliver maths, English and science to students in Nottingham’s AP setting. This role is on a short-term, part-time basis with immediate start, targeting KS2–KS4 learners who need differentiated instruction.

Qualifications

• A relevant teaching qualification or tutoring experience in Maths, English and Science.
• Experience supporting KS2 to KS4.
• Experience in Alternative Provision (AP) or supporting students facing barriers to mainstream education.
• Strong knowledge of Maths, English and Science curricula, including Functional Skills.
• Excellent behaviour management and communication skills.

Salary: £20 - £25 per hour

Are you an experienced Functional Skills Tutor with the ability to deliver engaging Maths, English and Science lessons?

Do you have experience supporting students across KS2 to KS4 who require an alternative approach to education?

Are you passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential?

TeacherActive is proud to be working with an Alternative Provision (AP) setting based in Nottingham, supporting students across Key Stage 2 / KS2, Key Stage 3 / KS3 and Key Stage 4 / KS4. The provision offers an alternative learning environment for young people who require additional support to engage with education and develop their confidence and academic abilities.

The setting is looking to take on a dedicated Functional Skills Tutor on a short-term, part-time basis with an immediate start. The successful Functional Skills Tutor will be responsible for delivering engaging and differentiated Maths, English and Science sessions, adapting teaching methods to suit individual learning needs, monitoring progress and encouraging positive engagement with education.

The successful Functional Skills Tutor will have:

• A relevant teaching qualification or tutoring experience in Maths, English and Science
• Experience supporting students across KS2, KS3 and KS4
• Experience working within Alternative Provision / AP or supporting students who face barriers to mainstream education
• Strong knowledge of the Maths, English and Science curriculum, including Functional Skills where appropriate
• Excellent behaviour management and communication skills
• A patient, adaptable and positive approach to supporting young people
