Job summary

Novus, the LTE Group prison education provider, is seeking a Functional Skills Teacher for HMP Deerbolt near Barnard Castle. This permanent, part-time role offers 24 hours per week with a pattern on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, delivering a mix of outreach and classroom-based programmes to adult learners.

Candidates should hold a teaching qualification and Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy, with the ability to motivate learners and report on progress. DBS checks apply.

We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Deerbolt, working as a Functional Skills Teacher. This role is offered on a permanent, part-time basis, working 24 hours per week. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver a range of programmes across both outreach and classroom-based provision, as required. The role will be based on a full-day working pattern each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Site Information

HMP Deerbolt is a Category C , Training Prison for Adult Males located near Barnard Castle, County Durham. The prison provides educational programs, vocational training, workshops, healthcare services, and sports facilities. These initiatives are geared towards equipping inmates with skills and support for reintegration into society.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

• Teaching qualification and where applicable, relevant subject specialist qualification - with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months
