Job summary

Novus is seeking a Part-time Functional Skills Maths Outreach Teacher for HMP Lancaster Farms. The role is 18.5 hours per week with a pro-rata salary in the £30k range. You will join a team delivering functional literacy and numeracy, supporting learners in a prison education setting.

You will need teaching qualifications, Level 2 Literacy/Numeracy, and a passion for engaging, motivating learners while meeting quality targets. DBS checks and safeguarding are integral to the selection process.

  • Hold a teaching qualification and where applicable, relevant subject specialist qualification - with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months
  • Hold a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
  • Have experience in creating stimulating, vibrant environments which are conducive to learning and motivational for learners
  • Have previous track record showing achievement of quality targets
  • Have successfully produced accurate and timely reports
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Can motivate and enthuse learners
  • Have organisational skills to prioritise workload to meet deadlines and targets
  • Demonstrate positive team working

We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Lancaster Farms working as a Functional Skills Maths Teacher. This role is offered on a permanent, part-time basis, working 18.5 hours per week.

Site Information

HMP Lancaster Farms is located on the outskirts of Lancaster. The prison is a Category C Male Prison and offers a diverse range of education opportunities and employment support opportunities in industrial cleaning, physical education, gardening amongst others. the teams' aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe at all times. The prison’s mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society.
